Synopsis

When Bruna Lopes, a native fisher from Praia do Peró (Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro), saw ghost nets silently killing marine life and threatening the future of her community, she decided to act.

With Rede Flor do Mar, she and her team pull abandoned nets out of the sea, the lagoons and the mangroves and turn them into handcraft. In doing so they keep traditional knowledge alive while turning pollution into income for the community. The documentary shows how care for the ocean, ancestral knowledge and community strength can create real solutions where support often fails to arrive.
