Mangroves of Região dos Lagos
Manguezais da Região dos Lagos
Rio Ocean Week 2025, Cinema Comentado screening
Synopsis
As real estate speculation threatens to wipe the mangroves of Região dos Lagos off the map, an alliance rises to defend them. The documentary follows the NGO Anhangá, researchers from the Mangrove Studies Center at UERJ (NEMA/UERJ) and artisanal fishers on an urgent mission: to map this ecosystem and make it visible before it is too late.
It is a story of science and tradition working together to turn data into protection laws, showing that conservation is born from everyone’s collaboration.
